A former Ohio State football player is already looking like he’s going to get traded just months into his NFL career.

I wrote earlier today about how the Ohio State football team should be concerned about the secondary just one week away from the season starting. Now, I REALLY think they should be worried since their best corner from last year might be traded just months into his NFL career.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Ravens are already looking to trade former Buckeye cornerback Shaun Wade after spending a 5th round pick on him in this year’s NFL Draft. Rapoport reported the news on his Twitter account.

It’s bad enough that Wade is already going to get traded despite playing pretty well in preseason so far, including recording an interception. But what’s worse is that he is going to get traded to the Patriots, whom only people from Boston like (if you’re from Boston, sorry).

What’s telling is that Wade was the Buckeyes’ best corner from a year ago and was an All-American. Now, the team that drafted him doesn’t even want him. That gives me great concern as to the talent that is currently in the defensive back room here in Columbus.

Maybe Wade just needs a new team that really truly wants to be with him in order to succeed. Maybe this doesn’t mean anything for the current crop of cornerbacks that the Buckeyes have. All I know is is that this makes me more uncomfortable about the secondary than I was before.

Minnesota’s Tanner Morgan will give us a good look at how good this secondary is in just one week’s time.
