The best recruit in Ohio State football history will take the field today for the first time as a member of the Buckeyes.

The Ohio State football team will be adding another member to the quarterback room today in an official capacity. Quinn Ewers is now able to practice for the Buckeyes now. He will be wearing #3 and will be on the field trying to fight for playing time.

Ewers has his work cut out for him to get that playing time though. With this being his first practice, he is way behind the eight-ball. Right now, there’s no doubt he’s the fourth quarterback on the depth chart. He’s going to have to fight just to be third at this point.

I do think that Ewers will beat out Jack Miller for that third QB spot. Miller hasn’t looked good since the early Spring and is a good candidate to transfer out once the season starts. He doesn’t have a chance at playing time and would only get that elsewhere at this point.

Ewers won’t get much playing time this year either. He will likely only get in during some blowouts during the season. It’s C.J. Stroud‘s job to lose. Kyle McCord is a clear second too. Ewers would have to pull off a minor miracle within the next couple of weeks to even be the backup.

Even so, just having Ewers out there on the field is exciting for Ohio State football fans. His talent is undeniable. Now is just a time for him to develop on the practice field and get comfortable with his teammates. That’s the most important thing right now.

Ewers’ future with the Buckeyes is bright. Now he can finally start working towards that future today. It’s an exciting time to be a Buckeye!
