3 Ohio State football players with most to prove
By Ryan Stano
Zach Harrison came into the Ohio State football program with a lot of expectations as the number one recruit in the state of Ohio for the class of 2021. He was a five-star kid that was expected to be the next great defensive end to come through Columbus.
Since then, Harrison has been just okay. He has flashed some supreme talent and athleticism at times. Even with those flashes, his production hasn’t caught up. Harrison still only has 10 sacks in two years at Ohio State. That’s not bad by any stretch, but more is expected out of him.
If Harrison wants to prove that he is worthy of being a top-10 draft pick in next year’s NFL Draft, his production is going to have to increase. He needs to have at least 8.5 sacks for a team to use a pick that high on him. With his talent, he shouldn’t have any problem doing that.
Harrison’s production should increase because of increased attention to Haskell Garrett, Jack Sawyer, Tyreke Smith, and J.T. Tuimoloau. That attention on the other great players should give Harrison more one-on-one scenarios to break through and get to the quarterback easier.
Harrison is super important to the Buckeyes’ overall success. Having him at the top of his game will make Ohio State a better football team in general. A big season from him could help him get paid in a big way next season in the NFL.
All of these players will be more motivated than ever to play the best football that they possibly can in 2021.
