Ohio State football: Buckeye with the highest ceiling in 2021
By Ryan Stano
The Ohio State football team will once again be loaded with talent this season. One Buckeye in particular has the highest ceiling to dominate this year more than any other player.
Once again, the Ohio State football team will be the favorites in the Big Ten. They will likely be in the College Football Playoff and fighting for a repeat appearance in the National Championship Game. That won’t just get handed to them though. They have to work for it.
Not only will they have to work hard, but players will have to play to their full potential. There is one Buckeye in particular who has the highest ceiling of anyone on the 2021 team. That player is Zach Harrison. He might be the deciding force on this football team.
As we talked about this past weekend, Harrison is an integral part of this team. He has to actually get some production this season for the Buckeyes to be where they want to be at the end of the year. He needs to turn into that five-star stud that they recruited out of Olentangy Orange High School.
Harrison is one of the most physically gifted players on this roster. He’s so close to putting it all together. His physical traits, experience, along with the coaching he gets from Larry Johnson, give him the highest ceiling of any player on this year’s team.
Whether he hits that ceiling could be the difference between Ohio State walking away with the championship trophy or being bounced in the CFP semi-finals in a non-competitive game. His activity on the outside drives so much of what goes into this defense.
Him pushing the pocket around makes quarterbacks uncomfortable. Then once he starts actually sacking guys, quarterbacks get rushed and they make mistakes. That helps the secondary improve and it helps a very inexperienced linebacker group. Harrison can force all of that by being dominant.
Harrison might be the player I have the highest expectations for on this team. He has all the talent in the world. Now, it’s time to put it all together.
