Ohio State football: 3 Big Ten teams at top of recruiting rankings
By Ryan Stano
As of right now, the Ohio State football team is joined by two other Big Ten teams at the top of the recruiting rankings for the class of 2022.
The Ohio State football program has been recruiting at a very high level over the last few years. They just had the second-best recruiting class in the class of 2021. Only Alabama had a better class. No other program in the Big Ten came close to matching them.
Recruiting for the class of 2022 is still early in the process, but right now the Buckeyes have the best class in the country. Based on their current hit rate, that doesn’t look to be changing anytime soon. That’s not surprising. What is surprising is the fact that two other Big Ten teams are in the top ten.
One of them is Penn State, which actually has the second-best class in the entire country. That is surprising considering Penn State was so bad last season. Yet, they are the only team that is remotely close to the Buckeyes in terms of recruiting for next year.
The other Big Ten team program that is in the top ten of the rankings is even more surprising than Penn State. That other team is TTUN. They are ranked 10th right now for the class of 2022 recruiting rankings. They are the only other Big Ten Program to appear in the top ten right now.
TTUN has been truly awful, including last year when they only won two games last season. I don’t understand why any recruit would want to join that program in its current state. The fact that they are even sniffing the top ten right now is honestly a minor miracle.
Even if Ohio State doesn’t finish with the best class in the country by the time it’s all over, they will definitely finish ahead of both Penn State and Michigan. As long as that is the case, that’s all that matters.
