Ohio State football: J.T. Tuimoloau cancels Alabama visit
By Ryan Stano
In what can only be construed as good news for the Ohio State football team, J.T. Tuimoloau has canceled his upcoming visit with Alabama.
The Ohio State football program did a lot of work to impress top 2021 recruit J.T. Tuimoloau. They busted out Hawaiian shirts at the airport to greet him and made him feel like a VIP all weekend long. He really felt welcome and the Ohio State coaches felt really good about his visit.
Now, Ryan Day and company have to feel REALLY good about his recruitment. J.T. Tuimoloau has canceled his upcoming Alabama visit. Bama was going to be the last program that he visited. It seems like that is no longer the case and they seem to be out. This is according to 247Sports’ Brandon Huffman.
If you’re a fan of the Buckeyes, you have to be ecstatic to hear this. To me, this sounds like Tuimoloau is locked up now. Oregon is the only other program that has a shot and they don’t have the track record with defensive linemen like Ohio State does.
Adding Tuimoloau would make the 2021 recruiting class even better. It is already the best recruiting class in program history. Now having two stud defensive ends in the same class is amazing. The crazy thing is, he could be better than Jack Sawyer.
Landing JTT would be a huge boost for the Buckeyes. With an incredibly busy month of June, it didn’t seem like their recruiting efforts were paying off. But now that seems to be changing. Landing Tuimoloau alone would make all of the efforts worth it.
As far as his playing prospects are concerned, Tuimoloau would get some playing time immediately. Even though there are other guys ahead of him on the depth chart, Larry Johnson loves to have a rotation along the defensive line. That rotation would certainly include him.
We’ll have to wait and see if Tuimoloau makes an official announcement soon. But if I’m a Buckeye fan, I feel really good about him.
