A rising linebacker in the class of 2023 has the Ohio State football program in his final four. He comes from a high school where a few other Buckeyes attended.

The Ohio State football team is using every tool in its bag this month when it comes to recruiting. With so many recruits visiting campus this month, they need to pull out all of the stops. One recruit from the class of 2023 seems to like what he sees.

Four-star linebacker Josiah Trotter is from St. Joseph’s in Philly and has Ohio State in his final four schools. He stands at 6’2 and 225 pounds and still has some room to get bigger. Ohio State isn’t the only Big Ten school in his final four colleges though.

Penn State also makes an appearance. That’s not a huge surprise since he is a Pennsylvania kid. The other two programs are Clemson and South Carolina. The Buckeyes are already in a fight with Clemson for one recruit, so just add Trotter to that list as well.

Being that Trotter is from St. Joe’s, and they are better than Penn State, gives them an advantage. They took two recruits from that high school in the 2021 class in Kyle McCord and Marvin Harrison Jr. They know that school well and know how to recruit it.

It might be a little while before we know what Trotter ultimately decides to do. His brother did sign with the Gamecocks this past cycle, so they might have the edge right now. It’s up to Ryan Day and his staff to show why Ohio State would be the better choice for his future.
