The prospect in the whole draft that seemed to have the most scrutiny around him was quarterback Justin Fields. For whatever reason, teams or people in the media, or both, seemed to nitpick his game more than any other quarterback or prospect in the draft.

Fields is everything you want in a quarterback. His stats are amazing. He threw 63 touchdowns and 9 interceptions in his two years as the face of the Ohio State football program. He completed 68% of his passes in those two years as well.

Not only was he great through the air, but he was very good on the ground as well. Fields ran for 867 yards and 15 touchdowns in his two years in Columbus. While he probably won’t run that much in the NFL, he still can. He was the second-best quarterback in this draft.

Fields is also the type of leader that you want. He fought to have a season in 2020 when he didn’t have to. He led the Buckeyes to the National Championship game too. He is thick enough to take hits and tough enough to play through pain when he does get hit.

Yet despite all of this, he was the fourth quarterback taken. Not only that but he was taken outside the top 10. The Bears had to trade up at 11 to get him. Both the 49ers and the Jets will regret taking Trey Lance and Zach Wilson instead of Fields.

All of these players can still have great NFL careers and I expect them to. They are going to make everyone else regret that they passed on them.
