Ohio State football: Tommy Togiai goes to Browns in 4th round
By Ryan Stano
The Ohio State football player is staying in the great state of Ohio as the Browns take Togiai in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL Draft.
The Ohio State football team has their first pick off the board on day three. Defensive tackle Tommy Togiai is staying in the state of Ohio. He just has to drive up 71 North to head to Cleveland and play for the Browns. The Browns take him in the fourth round.
Togiai will fit in perfectly in Cleveland. He is very strong at the point of attack and can drive guards back into the quarterback. He makes the quarterback have to move around in the pocket and opens up defensive ends to get sacks once that does happen.
While Togiai needs some work in run defense, his strength in the pass rush makes him a great pick here. He can learn how to get off blocks a little better with some NFL coaching to make him more of a run-stopper. His gap discipline is good, so he does make it hard for an offensive lineman to push him back.
Togiai is one of the strongest guys in this year’s draft. He has a chance to get significant snaps as a rookie in Cleveland. He may not start right away but has a chance to work his way into a starting position in the next two or three years. With some coaching, he can be a menace at the next level.
I’m sure there are a lot of Ohio State football fans that are very happy with this pick because a lot of Buckeye fans are also Browns fans. It’s good for them that Togiai heads to their team. I’m very interested to see how they use him in the years to come.
