The Ohio State basketball team is one step closer to getting a true big man. The five-star center has Ohio State in his final three.

Efton Reid is a five-star center who could be one of the best players available for the 2021 class. He could be one of the missing pieces that Chris Holtmann could use to help the Buckeyes actually succeed in the postseason. Reid would be a true center who could deter players from driving in the lane.

Reid has the Ohio State basketball program in his final three schools. Reid will help whatever team he decides to play for next season. He would help no one other team more than Ohio State though. The Buckeyes really need him to solidify their defense.

Even though Reid isn’t the best defender, his sheer size would deter players from getting to the rim as easily as they did this past season. Ohio State just needs a bigger body than what they have right now. Zed Key at 6’8 just isn’t cutting it for them.

Reid would give Ohio State a legitimate post presence as well. With Kyle Young more than likely not taking his COVID year and E.J. Liddell putting his name in for the draft, the Buckeyes would just be left with Key in the frontcourt as the only guy who has played significant minutes.

If Holtmann was able to grab Reid, he would play significant minutes right away. In fact, there’s a good chance he would start right out of the gate. Key was the only freshman who got truly significant minutes this season. Eugene Brown and Meechie Johnson played some, but not a ton.

Next. 49ers shouldn't draft Jones over Fields. dark

We will know by next Thursday where Reid will ultimately decide on. Here’s hoping he comes to Columbus so this team can actually be a postseason threat.
