The Ohio State football coach came out and defended his quarterback from criticism that seems to be changing by the day.

The media has been changing its narrative almost daily when it comes to Justin Fields. At first, he couldn’t throw the long ball accurately. His performance at Ohio State’s Pro Day took care of that. Now for some reason, it’s that Fields isn’t a competitor and doesn’t want to be great.

Ryan Day has had enough of this garbage. He went on Morning Juice this morning on 97.1 the Fan to defend his former quarterback. He made sure that the narratives that the media seems to be coming up with are absolutely incorrect and completely stupid.

"“He peitioned, went on national TV and fought to have football. You know, if you don’t do that if you don’t absolutely love football and are an unbelievable competitor.” -Ryan Day"

Day is absolutely right. Fields didn’t have to play another down of Ohio State football to make millions in the NFL. He could have opted out last year and could still have been a first-round pick. He wouldn’t have played at all in 2020 if he didn’t love playing the game.

Fields is also the only quarterback that seems to be getting these changing narratives as to why he is slipping in the eyes of NFL executives. You don’t hear this about Zach Wilson or Mac Jones or anything like that. Some people are bringing up that this could be a racial thing.

I am not ready to say anything like that. But it is curious why Fields, who completed 70% of his passes in 2020 and was the consensus number two quarterback in the draft, is suddenly falling three months later. It makes absolutely no sense.

Fields doesn’t have any character issues. He is clearly a leader that his teammates love. I just don’t understand why this seems to be happening. All I know is that Fields will make any team who passes on him pay once he faces that team at the next level.
