Not having fans in 2020 was a tough pill to swallow for the Ohio State football program. That experience will help them in 2021 though.

The Ohio State football program gets a lot of help from the fans when they play at Ohio Stadium. They have one of the best home-field advantages in the country because of that. The Buckeyes had to play 2020 without those fans, and it was hard to do.

Even though it was hard to do, it is something that might actually help the team in 2021. Ohio State won all of their home games in 2020 by a large margin. The only game that was in doubt was the IU game, and that only got hairy at the end.

That experience will help this team next season. There is hope that the Buckeyes will be able to have fans for 2021. What the attendence numbers will be allowed is unclear at this point. But any fans are better than no fans. Having played in front of no fans will give Ohio State a mental edge.

They won’t get a mental edge over anyone on their current schedule since all of them played without fans last season too. But once it comes to the College Football Playoff, and the Buckeyes should make it once again, they will have an edge over a Clemson or an Alabama.

The fans will be even more fired up this year too. After not being able to do anything for the last year, they will be extremely loud next season, no matter how many fans are allowed in the stadium. That will make Ohio State’s home-field advantage even greater.

I would be shocked if no fans were allowed for a second straight year. But any fans are better than none, and the Ohio State football team will welcome them with open arms.
