Ohio State Football: Three keys to win National Championship
The Buckeyes have to utilize the tight ends in the passing game and be balanced
Something we hadn’t seen a lot of all season was the tight ends being featured in the Ohio State offense. It proved to be a huge weapon against Clemson and will again versus Alabama.
This is the weakness of the Tide’s defense. If the Buckeyes get the tight ends in space, it could be a matchup nightmare for the Bama linebackers. The same goes for the wide receivers. Creating mismatches with pre-snap motions will be instrumental in this chess match.
Ohio State is the most balanced offense in the country. The score sheet is basically a mirror image of the other. The Buckeyes have thrown for 1,906 yards and rushed for 1,908 yards this season averaging 272.3 and 272.6 respectively according to ESPN. Any coach’s dream is to have his team be 250/250 which is exactly what Ohio State has in its offense.
We all know the threat of Chris Olave and Garrett Wilson who will feel like the disrespected receiving corps in this matchup. But involving Jeremy Ruckert and Luke Farrell will add another layer that could make this Ohio State offense indefensible.
Trey Sermon is on a 2014 Ezekiel Elliott hot streak to close the season thanks to hard downhill running and great vision. But it all starts up front, the Buckeye offensive line has been manhandling the line of scrimmage. The Ohio State OL against the Alabama DL will be a position group battle to watch tonight. These games are won in the trenches.
Ohio State and Alabama is the National Championship Game the country has been craving for years and now it’s finally here. Expect a classic college football game tonight, ladies and gentlemen. It will be of historic proportions as Ohio State fights to the end.
