The Ohio State football program may be having COVID issues within their team before the National Championship. Even if they do, they have enough depth at any position to beat Alabama.

The Ohio State football team plays Alabama on Monday for the national title. They may have to do it while missing some players due to COVID if you believe some of the rumors flying around. While we cannot confirm or deny any of the rumors at this point, but we do know how good this team is.

No matter what players the Buckeyes could possibly be without, they are still good enough to beat Alabama. Ryan Day has done a really good job of creating depth at every position on the field. There are five-star recruits all over this roster.

There is no position group that is devoid of talent. While it would certainly hurt to not have starters at certain positions, really the only position group that Ohio State can’t afford to have starters out is at quarterback. Justin Fields should be good to go for this game though.

Ohio State played their best game of the season against Clemson. If Ohio State gets a game like that from the starters that do play, if there is a COVID issue at all, then the Buckeyes are still good enough to win against Bama. The backups they have are still really good.

Most of the positions on both sides of the ball have backups that have played meaningful snaps this season. Multiple offensive linemen have played in big games. At least five receivers have played in those same big games. Even four different running backs and tight ends have played.

Defensively, the secondary is the only place where the Buckeyes might be a little thin. The linebackers have four really strong players and two others who are capable. The defensive line is the deepest position group on this team.

If you’ve heard any of the rumors floating around, no members of the secondary are mentioned. That means that if there are issues at all, the other position groups have enough depth to succeed despite that.
