Ohio State football: Bama might get weapon back for title game

The Ohio State football team’s path to a national championship may just have gotten harder. There are reports that Alabama might get one of their best offensive players back for the National Championship.

The Ohio State football team will play for a national championship one week from today. They will play an Alabama team that has been ranked as the number one team pretty much all season. They are really good and might get even better for this game.

According to reports, receiver Jaylen Waddle will return to practice tomorrow and has a chance to play in the title game. Waddle hasn’t played since he broke his ankle against Tennessee on October 24th. The National Championship is on the 11th. That would give him a two and a half month recovery time.

Waddle is one of the most dangerous receivers in the country. In five games played this season, he had 25 catches for 557 yards and four touchdowns. Waddle was actually viewed as the better receiver on Bama’s team between him and Devonta Smith.

If Waddle does play, that presents a massive challenge for the Ohio State secondary. Sevyn Banks and Shaun Wade will have to deal with covering both Smith and Waddle. I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Buckeyes play a little bit more zone than they are used to playing.

The Buckeyes still believe their defensive backs are good enough to play man-to-man even if Waddle plays. Ohio State has confidence in their scheme after keeping Clemson in check in the Sugar Bowl. The defensive line can help the secondary too by providing pressure up front.

This game was never going to be easy. If Waddle plays it will just make it harder for the Buckeyes to win. Even so, Ohio State feels like they are the team of destiny. They feel like they can match up with any team in the country. They’re right.
