Ohio State Football will be back this month
As the calendar turns to October, it means that the Big Ten will be back and Ohio State will once again be taking the field on a quest for a championship.
After an offseason that has been anything but certain, a date of Oct. 24 is currently scheduled for Ohio State to start their 2020 season home against Nebraska. For much of the off-season, the uncertainty surrounding the start of the season meant no real countdown existed for the opening kickoff.
The Big Ten’s decision-making will forever be questioned because of this, and even though Buckeye players have to wait through seeing a month of the ACC, Big 12, and SEC play football while they could not, they will still have a chance to compete for a spot in the CFP.
Now Ryan Day can fully prepare his men for the season to begin in just three weeks. Of course, the unpredictability surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic leaves the start of the season as anything but concrete, but the excitement that comes from having a first game is building.
The wait that has seemed endless will be over before the calendar turns to November, and after a scrimmage took place at Ohio Stadium this past weekend, the Buckeyes coaches will be setting up a game plan for Nebraska.
Soon, Buckeye fans will be able to see (if not in person) Justin Fields slinging the football around, Shaun Wade dominating opposing receivers, and a team hungry to get back to the College Football Playoff and win a national championship.
Even through an offseason defined by trials, Ohio State is just three weeks away from beginning a redemption story after losing to Clemson 29-23 in the CFP semifinal last year. With upsets to Oklahoma and LSU, the path to the CFP is already a little easier for a team favored to win the Big Ten.
