Ohio State already has an easy schedule, but their path just got a lot easier after a chaotic first real week of college football.

Ohio State won’t be playing their first football game for another month. Even so, they have a relatively easy schedule and will be favored in every game they play. Now though, they might even have a chance if they lose a game because of a chaotic week in college football.

Oklahoma lost at home after allowing 24 unanswered points to a bad Kansas State team. The defending national champs, LSU, lost to Mississippi State in their first game. Texas needed a miracle to beat Texas Tech. Georgia clearly has quarterback problems.

All of these teams looked supremely inferior to the Buckeyes in their games. The Big 12 looks like they might not even be able to put a team good enough to qualify for the CFP. The SEC looks like they are going to beat each other up. The Pac-12 might not even get enough games in to qualify.

If you’re a Buckeye fan, you have to feel great about the results of this past weekend. Ohio State didn’t even play and their path to the playoffs got a lot easier. This will probably continue for the next few weeks until the Buckeyes do eventually take on Nebraska.

Having multiple top teams from other conferences lose gives the Buckeyes a possible buffer if they lose a game. They won’t be banking on that, but it’s good to know that if they do lose they still have a chance at the playoffs.

This past weekend solidfies the fact that the only team that can possibly be a threat to the Buckeyes is Clemson. Even they have some flaws that I believe Ohio State can exploit. I just can’t wait for the Buckeyes to start playing.
