While there has not been a re-vote yet to determine the fate of the Fall football season in the Big Ten, here are who we think will vote which way. We know Ohio State will vote yes, but who else?

Ohio State has already stated that they really want to play football this Fall. Every level of the university has come out in support of it. There have been reports of a re-vote happening as early as today. If that does indeed happen, who is likely to vote in what fashion?

We know Ohio State would vote yes. Nebraska and Iowa were reported to have voted yes the first time as well. In order for a season to happen, the conference needs to have at least 60% of the conference vote yes. That means that those three schools would need some help.

Indiana and Purdue would both vote no. Neither one of them have a chance to win many games and both already voted no. They are also unlikely to be persuaded to change for any reason. The same goes for Rutgers and Maryland. Maryland actually just suspended all athletic activities because of positive COVID tests.

Penn State would likely vote yes. Pressure has already been put on them to change their vote, so they are likely to flip. Wisconsin has already talked about how much money they would lose if the Fall football season would not happen, so they might flip as well.

That gives the conference five yes votes right now. Minnesota is unlikely to vote yes, so they will be counted as a no. Michigan and Michigan State should flip now that the Governor has changed course on sports. We now have half the conference voting yes.

The swing votes are going to be Illinois and Northwestern. They need at least one, but preferably both, to flip to make the season happen. Perhaps immense public pressure to make the season happen will make them flip.

2020 college football season will be remembered forever. dark. Next

All we can do is sit and wait for a vote to happen. We will be waiting on pins and needles just like you.
