The Big Ten schedules have been posted and the Ohio State football team has a favorable one but ‘The Game’ will be played earlier than usual.

For decades fans have known the last Ohio State football game during the regular season would be against that team up north. Not surprisingly in a year of changes that won’t be the case.

The Buckeyes will host the Wolverines in Game 7.

Ohio State does have a favorable schedule this season though. Let’s take a look at the 10 game conference schedule, as reported by Lettermen Row, and then look at how things may play out.

September 3rd, at Illinois: The Illini are coming off a nice season but are catching the Buckeyes at the wrong time because they will be hungry. This game shouldn’t be close.

September 12, Rutgers: All I can say is blowout.

September 18, at Purdue: Think players on the roster the last time Ohio State traveled to Purdue won’t have the others fired up? Big win for the Buckeyes this time.

September 26, Indiana: As a fan, the Hoosiers always make me a little anxious because they tend to play the Buckeyes tough. Indiana is a good team but Ohio State moves to 4-0.

October 3rd, Off

October 10th, Nebraska:  I expect quarterback Adrian Martinez to come back strong after a rough sophomore season but not sure about the rest of the team. The Buckeyes win convincingly to go to 5-0.

October 17th, at Michigan State: For years the Michigan State game has made me nervous. Not so this year with a new coach and the Spartans coming off a poor season. It will be a physical game though which isn’t a great thing for the Buckeyes with the battle coming up a week later.

October 24th, Michigan: If one of the two young Michigan quarterbacks step up this could be a very tough game. And it’s still ‘The Game’ whenever it’s played so anything can happen. I still expect the Buckeyes to keep their winning streak alive.

More from Ohio State Football

October 31st, Maryland: Not worried a tiny bit about facing the Terrapins even though some may consider this a trap game.

November 7th, at Penn State: This could be the game of the year in college football.

November 14th, Off

November 21st, Iowa: I think the Hawkeyes will have a strong team but will be facing the Buckeyes at the worst possible time. Ohio State will be reeling from a loss to Penn State or battling to play in the Big Ten Championship Game and in the hunt to make the College Football Playoff.

November 28th, Off

December 5th, Big Ten Championship Game

That’s how I see the Ohio State football season shaping up before the first game is played. I can’t wait until it gets rolling to see how things play out.
