The path to redemption for Justin Fields and Ohio State

The countdown to the football season is finally here. The countdown is almost over and the path to redemption has almost begun for the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Justin Fields is at the top of the list when it comes to players who are on the path to redemption for last year. The last pass he threw last season was an interception. That has sat in his head all spring and summer and has made him bite at the bullet to get back on the field.

Fields is also looking to make another run at winning the Heisman Trophy. This season is the most important season for Fields because he not only can walk away from college football a Big Ten Champion and a national champion but a Heisman Trophy winner as well.

He is looking to show the experts that he is the better selection for the top pick in next year’s draft. Almost every expert is picking Trevor Lawrence as the top NFL prospect at the quarterback position and putting Fields at a close second. This year will be the year that Fields can prove everyone wrong.

Ohio State is looking to make a run at the Big Ten Championship and the National Championship. Fields will have to have a repeat of last year when it comes to his performance on the field. If he repeats or outperforms his numbers from last year it will prove he is the better selection for NFL franchises.

Although, it will be tough to outperform his 3,273 passing yards, 41 touchdowns, and 3 interception season. Fields will have some tests coming his way this season traveling to Penn State, Oregon, Michigan State, and the final game against their rivals Michigan.

The season will be different with everything going on in the world, but that hasn’t stopped Fields from working through the tough time. He has posted numerous workout videos on social media of him throwing the football and building his body to get ready for the season.

Ohio State will most likely run into the Wisconsin Badgers again in the Big Ten Championship, and that has always been a tough game for them. Wisconsin played the Bucks tough last season in the championship game until the second half.

The College Football Playoff committee will have a choice to make between putting the Buckeyes number one or the Clemson Tigers at number one when it comes time to make the selections. The goal for Fields and the Bucks is to play the Tigers in the national championship so that every critic, reporter, NFL scout, and draft analyzer can see which quarterback is the better fit for the NFL Draft.

There will be a lot of teams looking to make moves in the draft to land one of the two quarterbacks. Teams like Jacksonville, Pittsburgh, New England, Denver, Washington, and Carolina will be watching very closely this year to quarterback talent coming out of college.

Washington may be the dark horse team to select either Fields or Lawrence it seems that they are giving Dwayne Haskins another season to prove he is the right man for the job. Being a former Buckeye he will have a bounce-back season which will eliminate Washington from the quarterback race.

The team that will make a move would be the Pittsburgh Steelers. Big Ben is on his last leg and there is not much help behind him when it comes to quarterback, which was shown last season when he got injured.

Pittsburgh would be a good landing spot for Fields because they like the Buckeyes have great wide receivers and a good run game. Tomlin is a great leader and continues to show that he is a proven winner.

Justin Fields will need to put on a great showing in all games for the Buckeyes this year to compete with the weaker schedule that Lawrence will play. Fields will have a great staff of wide receivers to throw to this year that will be lead by Chris Olave and Garrett Wilson. The young recruit Julian Fleming is also looking to make a big impact this season.

Fields will have a running back group that he can lean on to help him as well when he needs it. The Buckeyes quarterback will play smarter this year by making more plays with his arm than his legs. We can look for the Buckeyes to air the ball out a lot more with the talented receiving corps that they have this year.

When week one arrives against Bowling Green look for the Buckeyes and Justin Fields to have the game in hand by halftime. Fields is going to come out with a fire in his eyes to prove to the world that he is the best quarterback in college football.

This season, the whole team has one mindset and that is to redeem themselves from the loss to Clemson last year. The Buckeyes and Fields outplayed the Tigers. This year the team will be firing on all cylinders to make sure that the nation knows that they are for real and when they walk into the national championship game this year they are going to make a big statement.
