It’s true that Justin Fields may be the most talented quarterback that the Buckeyes have had this decade, and will likely have the most successful NFL career out of the other two players mentioned on the list. But he only played a single season in the 2010s with Ohio State and as a result of this has not had much time to prove himself or stack up to the careers of the other two Buckeye legends.

Fields finished the 2019-2020 season throwing 354 passes on the season and completing 238 of them for a completion rate of 67.2%. He threw for 3,272 yards on the year. Most impressively, his touchdown to interception ratio was 41 touchdowns to 3 interceptions. Going into the National Championship semifinal game against the Clemson Tigers, he had only thrown one pick in the entire year.

Fields also attended the Heisman ceremony this season. He finished in third place in the voting with 6 first-place votes, 271 second-place votes, and 187 third-place votes.

Along with Trevor Lawerence, Fields yet again is one of the favorites to win the award in the upcoming season. It is very possible that we could see the first Buckeye quarterback to win the Heisman award since Troy Smith in 2006.

With the Buckeyes poised to have another championship-caliber team and hopeful for a deep playoff run, it will be exciting to see what Fields can do with the revamped roster and see how he can lead the team into the new decade.
