Ohio State Football: 3 predictions for Buckeye receivers in 2020
No. 2: Jamison Williams fends off the freshmen for playing time
With all they hype surrounded around the incoming freshmen, with good reason, Jameson Williams seems to be a forgotten man on this Buckeye roster. Don’t forget that Williams was earning a good amount of playing time last season as a true freshmen. According to Eleven Warriors, Williams played 151 snaps in 2019.
I predict Williams will earn the No. 3 receiver spot and hold off the incoming freshmen next season
A former top 100 recruit in his own right, Williams flashed his unbelievable speed last season and can be used as a deep threat on a consistent basis for Justin Fields.
Williams finished the 2019 campaign with six receptions for 112 yards and a touchdown, including an impressive 61 yard touchdown reception against Miami of Ohio.
He also was able to contribute on special teams last season, a must for young players to earn playing time. This is what he told Eleven Warriors last December:
"“I’ve been executing on special teams, doing whatever the team needs me to do, so this year has been a developing year for me,” Williams said in December. “As you get more and more time on the field, you get more confidence and things like that, so that time was I would say a learning experience for me that set up the years to come.”"
So as his developmental season is behind him, expect a bigger role for this speedster and another major weapon for this offense to deploy in 2020.
