As the summer heats up, the excitement for the 2020  Ohio State football season is mounting. With practices not starting for at least a few weeks though, Ryan Day and the Buckeyes still have their attention fixed on recruiting.

Ryan Day and his Ohio State football coaching staff started the 2021 recruiting trail hot, and they have not backed off. May came with two more commitments from athlete Denzel Burke and punter, Jesse Mirco.

This brings the total number of Buckeye commitments to 19 for the class with plenty more big names left on the radar.

While Ryan Day will stay focused on the recruits he and his staff have been in touch with, we have the opportunity to look around the country and Big Ten to see just how dominate the Buckeyes are.

Ohio State still owns the No. 1 ranked recruiting class coming in with 301.38 points. The second-place team, which is now Clemson stands at just 262.24 points.

The Buckeyes are on pace to set an historical recruiting class, which will continue to grow their dominating hold on the Big Ten.

Michigan (which has been number 4 or 5 in the Big Ten the last few years) currently owns the 2nd best composite recruiting ranking at 228.78 points. While this is a huge difference, the bigger item to notice is that Ohio State currently has an average player rating of 95.34 compared to Michigan’s 88.93.

Typically considered the No. 2 team in the Big Ten the last few years, Penn State is struggling in this recruiting class with just 179.9 points and a 88.26 average rating.

Ohio State continues to not only win with quantity but also quality. Let’s take a quick preview of how things may shape up in the Big Ten for the next few years.

If the Buckeyes have the best team on paper (which they have had for several years now), have excellent coaching (Ryan Day is considered one of the best) and dominate the recruiting trail like this, I see no team that will be able to consistently challenge the Buckeyes.
