Ohio State Football: Buckeyes off to fast start in 2022 recruiting
The news just doesn’t stop for the Ohio State football team as head coach Ryan Day and his staff started the 2022 recruiting class off in a strong way.
The Buckeyes continue to recruit at an extremely high level as they received verbal commitments from two players to kick off its 2022 recruiting class. Four-star offensive tackle
Tegra Tshabola from West Chester, Ohio and four-star defensive back Jyaire Brown from New Orleans gave their commitments to Ohio State.
Jyaire Brown’s recruitment is intriguing to say the least. For coach Kerry Coombs to step into LSU Tigers territory and steal a defensive back from the other school that labels itself ‘DBU’ is astonishing and just goes to say how great of a recruiter Coombs actually is. The addition of Kerry Coombs is paying off in dividends before he even coaches a single game since coming back to Columbus.

Offensive line coach Greg Studrawa deserves a ton of credit as well as he continues to recruit at a high level. Gaining five-star recruits such as Nicholas-Petit Frere in 2018, Parris Johnson in 2019 and the top guard prospect in 2020 with Donovan Jackson, ‘coach Stud’ is turning into one of Ryan Day’s most reliable recruiters. The recruitment and early verbal of Tshabola is just another notch in his belt.
As recruiting guru Mark Pantoni and the rest of the Ohio State staff tries to finish off the 2021 recruiting cycle strong, the Buckeyes laid the foundation for another stellar group in 2022. Gaining the verbal commitments of these two recruits this early could lead to other 2022 prospects who want to become a Buckeye to turn in their commitments soon as well.
Other top 2022 targets include quarterback Quinn Ewers, wide receivers Caleb Burton and C.J. Williams, offensive lineman Blake Miller of Strongsville, Ohio and linebacker Gabe Powers of Marysville, Ohio.
