Ok, so the first two predictions for defensive All-Americans were pretty obvious. Vincent is a little more of a wild-card type prediction.
Some of you may be asking yourself who Taron Vincent is. Well, that would be because the sophomore from Baltimore, Maryland had a torn labrum and did not play in 2019. But you are going to know who Vincent is after the 2020 season.
The No.1 defensive tackle in the 2018 recruiting class, Vincent showed tons of potential last offseason before his injury. Some even predicted that he would have been starting at defensive tackle. If he is fully healthy to start spring practice than Vincent should be a favorite to lock up one of the starting jobs left behind from Jashon Cornell, Robert Landers and DaVon Hamilton leaving.
Cornell had high praise for Vincent in spring ball last season, via Eleven Warriors:
"“Taron’s so disruptive, so disruptive in the run game, in the pass rush,” Jashon Cornell said in the spring. “We call him battering ram because once he gets off the ball, he’s knocking everybody off.”"
Vincent’s upside and potential here gives him a chance to be one of the best interior defensive linemen in the Big Ten right off the bat, and if he could put up some statistics then All-American status could be in his future.
There you have it, three Buckeye defenders who could be on All-American lists next season. Do you agree?
