Ohio State Football: Previewing the Buckeyes’ 2020 schedule
By Alex Austin
Iowa
This game seems similar to Oregon in that this team will be replacing talented players (the top of the list is at quarterback and DE AJ Epenesa).
Ohio State will have two big factors working for them here: playing in Columbus and revenge. The Buckeyes have not forgotten about not showing up against Iowa in 2017.
Early Prediction: Win
@ Michigan State
The Spartans are a team that is struggling but in denial. After having an abysmal offense in 2018, they did nothing and still had offensive struggles in 2019. Head coach Mark Dantonio has to change things but that takes time.
This is no longer a team that strikes fear into Big Ten opponents. This is more likely to be a blowout than a close game and it’s hard to see an upset happening here.
Early Prediction: Win
@ Penn State
This is the clear #2 team in the Big Ten this year. The defense will take a big step back but the Penn State offense will be as good as anybody in the country.
I think this is the most important game in the Big Ten on this year because both the Buckeyes and the Nittany Lions are capable of running the table.
I think this game depends entirely on what time kickoff is. If it’s at noon, advantage Ohio State. If Penn State gets a white out in a night game, look out.
Early Prediction: Loss (I think it’s a night game)
Nebraska
The Cornhuskers are headed in the right direction. However, Nebraska needs another year’s worth of good recruiting and building a foundation to be competitive against the big dogs in the Big Ten.
I think the Cornhuskers are going to be fighting for a bowl game this year, but they won’t be competing against the top-tier of teams. Adrian Martinez has a lot of potential and could take a huge step forward this year so the game could be close.
Ohio State will just be too much for Nebraska.
Early Prediction: Win
