Ohio State Football: Previewing the Buckeyes’ 2020 schedule
By Alex Austin
Indiana
This team will be sneaky good in 2020. The Hoosiers lose their top wide receivers and starters on the line but are going to be a tough out for any team.
Ohio State typically plays Indiana closer than they should (that seems to be the case for most teams when they play Indiana) which makes this a sleeper trap game.
I won’t consider it a trap game because I think they will be 6-2 with an outside chance to be ranked in the 20. Even so, Ryan Day has had his team prepared and ready to go every week during his tenure so I don’t see this one sneaking up on Ohio State.
Early Prediction: Win
@ Maryland
What happened to Maryland last year? The Terrapins started off with a ridiculous two-game streak and then the wheels fell off.
It’s hard to know what to expect next season, but a team that struggled that much down the stretch does not get the benefit of the doubt over a talented Buckeye team.
Early Prediction: Win
@ Illinois
Illinois’ success was a fun story in 2019, but with a new quarterback I don’t know how good this team will be.
The Illini primarily beat the teams they were supposed to last season and lost to the teams they were supposed to. I don’t see a much higher ceiling than that for 2020.
Illinois did pull off a stunner against Wisconsin and this game has many elements of a trap game. I think this ends up being way too close for comfort but the Buckeyes see it through.
Early Prediction: Win
