Ohio State Football: 5 predictions for Fiesta Bowl
Welcome to the party Josh Proctor
Safety Josh Proctor has had a very solid season for a young player in Ohio State’s secondary. Mostly playing in a back-up role to Jordan Fuller, Proctor has had his presence felt in most games that he’s been apart of.
At the end of Ohio State’s victory over Wisconsin in the Big Ten Championship, Proctor completely destroyed Jack Coan as he was trying to score. It has been hits and plays like that all season long that have kept Proctor on the field getting reps.
This is going to be Proctor’s chance to shine. I expect to see co-defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley play more cover-two than we have seen all season having to go up against Trevor Lawrence and this group of receivers. Proctor will see significant action in this game as the second safety on the field.
If the Buckeyes do play two high safety’s then it will be interesting to see who is off the field for them. Do they go with only two linebackers or do they take off nickel Shaun Wade and roll him with the outside corners?
With the ability to help in the run game as well as playing very well in coverage this season, Proctor will make an impact in this one. I’m forecasting eight total tackles, a pass break up to go along with a big second half interception that could swing momentum in Ohio State’s favor.
