Ohio State football is rich in tradition and in talent. As we close out this decade, let’s take a look at who belongs on the All-Decade Team.

Hard to believe that 2019 is coming to a close, and with that so is this decade. As we begin the 2020’s here in a few weeks, members of the Scarlet and Game team voted on who they believe were the best players of this past decade.

Scarlet and Game Contributors were asked to vote based on the impact that players had at Ohio State and not based on their NFL success. Many of the players were unanimous selections to the team and we will make sure that you know who they were.

With so many great teams and players for Ohio State through these past 10 years it was hard to sort through them all. Here is the official Scarlet and Game All-Decade Team:

Special Teams:

Punter: Cameron Johnston (2013-2016)

The Australian punter from down under, Johnston was a member of the 2014 National Championship team. Averaging 44.9 yards per punt during his Buckeye career, Johnston ranked No.1 in the Big Ten during the 2016 season averaging 46.7 yards per punt.

Kicker: Sean Nuernberger (2014-2018)

Nuernberger finished his Ohio State career a perfect 216 of 216 on extra points which ranks No.1 all time in the Big Ten. He also made 72 percent of his career field goal attempts.

His best season was 2017 when he was 17-21 on field goals. Kicker Drew Basil finished a close second.

Punt Returner: Jalin Marshall (2013-2015)

Jalin Marshall is No. 6 all time in Big Ten average punt return yards at 12.7. With a punt return for a touchdown in 2014, Marshall was electric with the ball in his hands in the open field. Marshall was a unanimous selection.

Kick Returner: Dontre Wilson (2013-2016)

Dontre Wilson was another unanimous selection to the team. Averaging 24.2 yards per kick return during his career, its hard to believe that he never took one to the house. His 24.2 yard average is good enough for No.24 all time for the Big Ten.

Now a look at the All-Decade offensive players.
