Curtis Samuel | 3 receptions, 64 yards, 1 TD

Curtis Samuel always seems to be the former Buckeye who is waiting to break out this season. He’s had his moments but really hasn’t been able to put up a consistent stretch of games where he is putting up solid numbers.

Sunday was one of those games where he showed his flashes though, catching only three passes for 64 yards and a touchdown. He also had a rushing attempt for 10 yards.

While the volume of catches wasn’t really there, I’m not so sure that he is ever going to be that type of player in the NFL. I see him more as a Tyreek Hill model, a deep threat that is going to give you a long touchdown almost every game. Hill, however, has proven the ability over the last few years to do that, Samuel, as I said earlier, is very inconsistent.

The week before this, Samuel had four catches for just 46 yards but was targeted 11 times, catching less than half the balls thrown to him. The week before that against the Buccaneers he had two total touchdowns, one rushing and one receiving. But again in the week prior he was virtually a no-show.

You can see the trend here. If Samuel wants to make himself into a consistent NFL star like he has the ability to become, he needs to have weeks like this one every week.
