The Ohio State Buckeyes added another big-time recruit to the 2020 class in defensive tackle Jacolbe Cowan. Here is what to know about him.

Jacolbe Cowan, a defensive tackle out of Providence Day High School in Charlotte, North Carolina, announced his commitment to the Ohio State Buckeyes on Friday as he will add a lot to a defense that should already be very good.

Cowan is a four-star prospect ranked as the No. 7 recruit in all of North Carolina and the 15th-best defensive tackle recruit in the country, according to 247 sports. He also received offers from the likes of Alabama, Auburn and Arkansas but he has chosen to take his talents to Big Ten country.

In addition to saying that he projects as a Power 5 starter that has NFL Draft pick upside, this is what 247Sports also said about Cowan.

"“Cowan is his best when using his length and size to set the edge against the run. He can also create some disruption from the interior as a pass rusher and shows nice flexibility in those situations.”"

He is also a guy that knows how to get to the quarterback as he had 10 sacks his junior year and has started his senior season with three through his first four games, according to Land-Grant Holy land.

Additionally, Cowan seems like a good kid. This is what his high school head coach Adam Hastings told the Charlotte Observer.

"“Jacolbe is a fantastic young man who I feel so fortunate to be a part of his process these past four years,” Hastings said. “I’m excited to see where the rest of this season goes for him, but I’m also excited to see not just the next five years but the next 40. He’s an extremely analytical young man who understands the impact of his decisions, so I’m excited about his commitment to Ohio State.”"

Like I mentioned earlier, Cowan joins an already stacked defense that includes top-notch 2020 commits like: the No. 4 cornerback in the country in Clark Phillips III, the No. 4 safety in Lathan Ransom, the ninth-best outside linebacker in Cody Simon, the 12th-best outside linebacker in Kourt Williams, the 17th-best defensive tackle in Darrion Henry, the 23rd-best safety in Lejond Cavazos, the 42nd-best outside linebacker in Mitchell Melton, and the 34th-best strong-side defensive end in Ty Hamilton.

This is in addition to this year’s freshman class that includes the likes of defensive end Zach Harrison, linebacker Cade Stover, safety Ronnie Hickman, linebacker Tommy Eichenberg, defensive end Noah Potter and others.

Next. Picking against the spread Week 6. dark

Ohio State has the No. 3 2020 recruiting class in the country and the No. 1 ranked class in the Big Ten and Cowan will be a nice addition to a class that is already going to rule college football in a couple years.
