No. 8:  Wisconsin Badgers

Jonathan Taylor has been an unstoppable force again this season propelling the Badgers off to an incredible 2019. Wisconsin dominated Michigan in Madison last weekend and has played as elite of defense as anyone in the country through five weeks.

The offense seems to have a few added wrinkles but is not much different from year’s past. I still have some question marks for the Badgers defense against a power spread team like an Ohio State. The heavyweight battle in Columbus will tell us a lot at the end of October, but for now this team appears to be legit.

Contender

No. 7:  Auburn Tigers

Bo Nix has not been all that impressive, but he’s gotten the job done and in the rugged SEC a win is a win…to a point. If the Tigers hope to contend for a playoff spot, the offense will have to match the level of play as their defense which has been nasty so far.

Auburn has some tough sledding as they still have to face Florida, Georgia, LSU, and Alabama. I don’t see a way this team has fewer than two losses, so they will not have the record to contend. But this team is talented and will be a tough out.
