Being 4-0 and leading the nation in margin of victory wasn’t enough to elevate Ohio State into the Top 4 in the AP rankings, but a 48-7 win over Nebraska did.

Any doubts as to whether this year’s Ohio State football team were a serious contender to make the College Football Playoff were erased Saturday. The Buckeyes went into Lincoln and dominated the Nebraska Cornhuskers 48-7.

As a result of the big win on the road, Ohio State is finally ranked No. 4 in the Week 6 AP Poll. It’s about time.

After dominating wins the first four games the voters in the AP Poll still had the Buckeyes No. 5. Then they demolished the Cornhuskers on their home field in the featured game of the week, and at night. The voters finally got it.

It still blows me away why the voters have Georgia ranked ahead of Ohio State. I guess wins over Vanderbilt, Murray State, Arkansas State and a six point win over Notre Dame impressed them.

So much for the rugged SEC schedule.

Well, here are the Top 25 teams in the Week 6 AP Poll.

(1)  Alabama

(2)  Clemson

(3)  Georgia

(4)  Ohio State

(5)  LSU

(6)  Oklahoma

(7)  Auburn

(8)  Wisconsin

(9)  Notre Dame

(10)  Florida

(11)  Texas

(12)  Penn State

(13  Oregon

(14)  Iowa

(15)  Washington

(16)  Boise State

(17)  Utah

(18)  UCF

(19)  Michigan

(20)  Arizona State

(21)  Oklahoma State

(22)  Wake Forrest

(23)  Virginia

(24)  Southern Methodist

(25)  Texas A&M

(25)  Michigan State

Once again the Southeastern Conference and the Big Ten each have six teams ranked. The SEC has five teams ranked among the top 10 teams as has been the case lately.

I’m high on the Alabama Crimson Tide and the LSU Tigers. Both teams have performed at a high level so far and the Auburn Tigers have impressed me as well.

Next. Contender or pretender through September. dark

Florida, not so much. And would anybody think Georgia would defeat Ohio State? Plenty of football left and we will see how things play out the rest of the season.
