So far Jalen Hurts is leading the race for the Heisman but Justin Fields and former Ohio State quarterback Joe Burrow are in the hunt.

With the first three weeks in the books, the Heisman race consists of 4 players, who will be in the Heisman discussion all season long. Let’s see the top 5 Heisman rankings as we approach kickoff to week 4.

No. 5:  Johnathan Taylor – Wisconsin RB

In a 61-0 blowout win against Central Michigan, Taylor rushed for 102 yards and 3 touchdowns. The Badgers running back has 8 total touchdowns which is the most of any player in the country this season. Taylor has a big task ahead of him as the Badgers host the Wolverines at home this Saturday. He has yet to score a touchdown against the Wolverines in his career.

No. 4:  Justin Fields – Ohio State QB

The Buckeyes QB has exceeded expectations this season. Fields has 657 yards and 9 total touchdowns with 0 interceptions this season. The dynamic RPO threat that Fields will have this season with RB J.K. Dobbins will result in many explosive QB runs as well as down field passes for the Buckeyes offense.

No. 3:  Joe Burrow – LSU QB

More from Ohio State Football

Burrow has put the Tigers back on the map as a College Football Playoff contender. The Tigers QB is 75 for 90 on the season with 1,122 yards and 11 touchdowns. His 31 of 39 completions for 471 yards and 4 touchdowns in a 45-38 win against the 12th ranked Texas Longhorns might be the most impressive performance so far this season.

No. 2:  Tua Tagovailoa – Alabmama QB

Tua picked up right where he left off last season for the Crimson Tide. He threw for 444 yards, which is the 3rd most in Alabama history, in a 47-23 win against South Carolina including 5 touchdown passes as well. The junior QB has a 95.5 QBR this season with over 1,000 yards passing and 12 touchdowns. Look for Tua and company to add to their stats on Saturday when they take on Southern Miss.

No. 1:  Jalen Hurts – Oklahoma QB

Could Hurts be the third straight Sooner to win the Heisman? Through the first three weeks, he’s definitely the front-runner. With an 80.3% completion percentage, the Sooners QB has thrown for 880 yards and 9 touchdowns. He leads the nation in QBR with 96.8. With a bye this week, the Sooners face a 2-1 Texas Tech team in Norman.
