Ohio State Football: Justin Fields, J.K. Dobbins duo is going to be lethal
Despite a scoreless second quarter, the Ohio State quarterback and running back duo proved they are going to be lethal this season.
There was plenty of hype leading up to the season for the Buckeyes, most of it stemming from fans being excited to see how Justin Fields played in a Buckeye uniform. But J.K. Dobbins deserves to be grouped right in the same class with Fields.
Buckeye fans certainly haven’t forgotten about Dobbins, but I think that many others have forgotten how good the junior actually is.
Remember, Mike Weber had a great season as the featured back in his freshman season. We all thought Weber would get most of the playing time the following season.

An injury sidelined Webber to start the season and in came J.K. Dobbins. He ran for 1,403 yards and 7 touchdowns as a freshman. Those numbers may have been even higher if Dobbins didn’t start splitting carries with Webber midway into the season.
Last season, Dobbins of course split carries again, but still managed to total over 1,000 yards and punched it into the endzone 10 times.
Now with Weber off to the NFL, Dobbins will see the majority of the carries in the Ohio State offense. Unfortunately, that probably means he will only be in a Buckeye uniform for one more season.
In the first half against FAU it was reported Dobbins had 12 carries for 62 yards, and while those might not be the most eye-popping stats he showed plenty of play making ability and had success early. The combo of his early success combined with the success of Justin Fields on the ground opened up a lot of opportunities in the air for the Buckeyes as well.
That was shown by the three wide open touchdown passes in the first half.
Florida Atlantic may have sewed up their holes after a first quarter onslaught, but with a little work the duo of Dobbins and Fields will be lethal throughout the entire season. Even going up against some of the best competition in the country.
