Ohio State Football: K.J. and J.K. closing in on records
Two players on the Ohio State football team could put themselves at the top of all-time lists by the end of the season.
Every Ohio State football fan is well aware K.J. Hill has been an outstanding receiver for the Buckeyes and J.K. Dobbins has performed well his first two years. But they might not realize the two have the opportunity to put their names among the all-time greats by the end of the season.
First let’s look at K.J. Hill’s situation. He has 144 receptions in his career and only needs 48 to overtake David Boston for the top spot in that category.
What makes his stats so impressive is that 126 of his catches came the last two years. He also had to share time in the slot with Parris Campbell who caught 130 passes the last two seasons.

I wondered why Urban Meyer made a hard push to land Hill late in the 2015 recruiting cycle. Now it’s easy to understand why Urban wanted this guy.
J.K. Dobbins was impressive at every camp he went to prior to his senior year in high school and hit the ground running when he stepped on campus. But who knew he would be the first Ohio State running back to rush for over 1,000 yards his first two years?
Another 1,000 yard season and he will join the great Archie Griffin as the only backs to hit that mark three straight seasons.
It is amazing the two players are moving up in all time rankings because neither has really been a featured player. Hill shared reps with Campbell and Dobbins split carries with Mike Weber.
That says a lot about these two young men. They checked their egos at the door and went to work.
I hope each player has a fine season because they have been fun to watch and have been real team players during their time wearing Scarlet and Gray.
