One of the most important things for any coach to be successful at the college level is to be a great recruiter. Two Ohio State assistant coaches are among the best.

Brian Hartline is only heading into his second year as the Ohio State receivers coach but he is making an immediate impact on the recruiting scene for the Buckeyes. According to 247Sports, coach Hartline is college football’s best recruiter for the class of 2020.

Hartline took over for Zach Smith prior to last season and hit the ground running on the recruiting trail once the interim tag was taken off. The fact he had two receivers selected in this year’s NFL Draft and another picked up as an undrafted free agent certainly is a plus.

Right now Hartline has a monster wide receiver class coming in for 2020. The headliner of that class is 5-star Julian Fleming. Fleming is the best wide receiver in the 2020 class and ranks 5th best for all players in the class.

More from Ohio State Football

Fleming will be a senior this upcoming season at Southern Columbia High School in Pennsylvania. In three years at the high school level he has 183 receptions for 3,942 yards and 55 touchdowns. Those stats are mind blowing.

But that is just the beginning for this fantastic class. Hartline also has three 4-star commits and another three star on the way in 2020.

Jaxon Smith-Njigba ranks 59th of all players in 2020, Gee Scott Jr. ranks 63rd, Mookie Cooper is ranked 74th overall. Cameron Martinez is a 3-star who isn’t ranked in the top 100 but is very talented.

This group of receivers is an outstanding one so there is no question as to why 247Sports has ranked Brian Hartline as the top recruiter in this year’s class.

Also notable, the Buckeyes have another coach in Jeff Hafley who came in at 3rd on the list of the best recruiters for 2020.

Hafley currently has 6 4-Star recruits lined up for the class. He was named the co-defensive coordinator during the current offseason.

dark. Next. Buckeyes in NFL top 100

With all of this talent that will be coming onto the field and knowing there are outstanding recruiters on the coaching staff, the future looks bright for the Buckeyes.
