Ohio State Football: A look at Ryan Day’s new recruit
By Ian O’Brien
Ohio State has added another talented player to its 2020 class in Kourt Williams who has had a great high school career so far.
It was announced yesterday another outstanding recruit joined the 2020 Ohio State class. The new member is Kourt Williams out of St. John Bosco High School.
The 6 foot 1 216 pound linebacker is rated the 12th best linebacker in the 247Sports Composite and the No. 162 player overall.
At St. John Bosco High School from 2017-2018, Williams had 82 total tackles (41 of those being solo), had at least 4.6 tackles per game, two sacks, a fumble recovery and two pass deflections.
Before his decision to play for Ohio State, Williams had offers to Alabama, Arizona State, Colorado, Florida State, Georgia, Louisville, Miami (FL), Michigan, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Oregon, Oregon State, Penn State, TCU, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M, UCLA, USC, Utah, Washington and Washington State. He also visited Notre Dame but was not offered a scholarship.

The best thing for Kourt is he will work with three excellent coaches. Al Washington and Greg Mattison helped lead Michigan’s defense last year which was an outstanding one. Co-defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley came to Ohio State after being a successful defensive backs coach in the NFL.
This pickup is an outstanding one for the three coaches and the defense as a whole as Williams appears to be a good fit with the changes the new coaching staff wants to make.
When next year rolls around, the Buckeyes will have plenty of talented recruits coming in on both sides of the ball. Look for Kourt Williams to provide pressure, stop the running game and make sure wide receivers don’t get open in the near future, things the Buckeyes have had issues with lately.
It may take some time for Williams to get used to the defensive schemes, but in the end he will be fine and promises to have a fine career as an Ohio State Buckeye.
