Safety Jordan Fuller has been great on and off the field his first three years. However, with the Ohio State defense changing in 2019 how will he perform?

Last year was a tough season if you were a player on the Ohio State defense or a coach as the Buckeyes ranked 72nd in the final FBS defensive rankings.  However, things changed on that side of the ball during the offseason.

One of these changes being that Greg Schiano left the program and his replacement will be a Michigan guy named Greg Mattison.  Last season he was co-defensive coordinator at Michigan and the Wolverine defense finished 2nd in the standings.

Mattison will also team up with his other defensive coordinator partner Jeff Hafley. With a new defense comes speculation on how the players will perform in 2019.  One of those being Jordan Fuller at the strong safety position.

Last season was a pretty good one for Fuller.  According to  Land-Grant Holy Land, Fuller was one of the important pieces on defense and picked up a team leading 61 unassisted tackles and had 81 total tackles as well.

His tackling especially played a role in the Big Ten Championship Game against the Northwestern Wildcats when the Buckeyes won 45-24, and in the Rose Bowl against the Washington Huskies in which they won 28-23.

Fuller did not play in the spring Scarlet vs. Gray scrimmage due to an injury, but tweeted that he was cleared to play on July 2nd.  The safety has been doing great work on the field and off as well having a 3.81 GPA majoring in Business. He is expected to team up this season with Brandon White.

If all goes to plan and nothing happens to Fuller, especially with this new defense, look for him to have somewhere between three to five interceptions or maybe more, four to five fumble recoveries, 71 solo tackles, 22 assisted tackles and three tackles for a loss.  Fuller has 154 total tackles, three interceptions and two fumble recoveries in his career.

He is entering his senior season in hopes of going out with a National Championship ring.
