Ohio State Football: Top 12 Buckeye quarterbacks of all time
By Ian O’Brien
6) Art Schlichter:
When people think about Ohio State football during the late 70s and early 80s, the name that comes to mind is quarterback Art Schlichter. He may now trail J.T. Barrett in passing yardage, but he was still a big impact on the team as he passed for 7,547 yards and 50 touchdowns as a Buckeye.
There were some concerns however as he threw 46 picks as well. Schlichter was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts with the fourth pick of the 1984 draft but had a less than a stellar NFL career.
Schlichter only threw 6 touchdowns passes to go along with 13 interceptions. What hurt him most was his gambling addiction which got him arrested in 2012. He is scheduled to be released in 2022 according to 247sports.
5) JT Barrett:
Probably one of the most entertaining quarterbacks to watch in the modern era of Ohio State football. Barrett was named Big Ten quarterback of the year in 2014 as a true freshman and passed for 9,434 yards and 104 touchdowns during his time as a Buckeye.
Barrett was strong with his feet too as he rushed for 43 touchdowns and 3,263 yards. During his freshman season Barrett broke Drew Brees’ record for total touchdowns scoring 45. If a record like that is broken, the guy deserves to be on the list. Not to mention the fact J.T. never lost to Michigan.
