8) Rex Kern:

Kern was one of those Ohio State quarterbacks you may struggle with as far as statistics but his winning percentage was extremely high.  He only lost two games as a starter  from 1968-1970, plus he led Ohio State to the Rose Bowl / National Championship in 1968 against USC.

This was a different era so seeing Kern on the top 10 list isn’t surprising at the least. He was drafted by the colts in the 10th round of the 1971 draft and played four seasons in the NFL as a defensive back.

7) Cornelius Greene:

Cornelius Greene played for Ohio State in the early 1970s (1972-1975).  During his time as a Buckeye, Greene won the Silver Football award in the Big Ten beating out two-time Heisman winner Archie Griffin.

Not only that, Greene was the first African-American quarterback for the Buckeyes. He finished at Ohio State with 2,348 yards passing with 17 touchdowns and 20 interceptions.

Those stats may not seem impressive by today’s standards but Greene was a big time scrambler too. He racked up 2,066 rushing yards and scored 29 touchdowns.

Without him performing at such a high level, we may have not seen quarterbacks like Terrell Pryor, Troy Smith, Dwayne Haskins, Braxton Miller or J.T. Barrett running the Buckeye offense
