6. CB Kendall Sheffield, 4th Round, 111th Overall – Atlanta Falcons

If not for an injury suffered during the NFL Combine, Kendall may have heard his name called quite a bit earlier. Nonetheless, an impressive two-year career at Ohio State which included 75 total tackles and 2 INTs, as well as excellent pass coverage, was enough to convince the Falcons to take Sheffield.

For the Falcons, Sheffield will look to compliment Desmond Trufant on the other side of the field and improve Atlanta’s CB unit, which ranked 27th in pass yardage allowed.

7. OG Michael Jordan, 4th Round (Compensatory), 136th Overall – Cincinnati Bengals

At Ohio State, Jordan was a big piece in helping the Buckeyes protect both J.T. Barrett last season and Dwayne Haskins this past season and also creating running lanes for Mike Weber and J.K. Dobbins to run through. An offensive lineman is not a flashy position with a lot of stats, but Michael did what he had to do to prove his draft worthiness.

In Cincinnati, Michael will look to improve the Bengals offensive line and protect Andy Dalton (for as long as he remains starter) who has struggled with injuries the last several seasons.

8. OT Isaiah Prince, 6th Round, 202nd Overall – Miami Dolphins

Like Jordan, there aren’t any O-Line stats that can be shown, but Prince was also an important cog in the line that helped protect Buckeye QBs and RBs alike, which was an important part of the impressive 2018 Ohio State offense that helped the Buckeyes go 13-1.

For the Dolphins, Prince will look to protect new QB Josh Rosen, traded from Arizona, and created running lanes for Kenyan Drake.

9. RB Mike Weber, 7th Round, 218th Overall – Dallas Cowboys

While donned in the Scarlet and Gray, Mike Weber was the second head of a two-headed running back monster that led the Buckeyes to three straight seasons with double-digit wins from 2016-18. Complimenting J.K. Dobbins’ speed and agility, Weber’s power and sudden bursts of speed resulted in 2,772 rushing yards and 24 total TDs over 3 seasons.

However, Weber may be the least likely to make an immediate and dramatic difference. Behind former Buckeye great Ezekiel Elliott in Dallas, Mike will more than likely begin as a backup to ‘Zeke. Nonetheless, with hard work and a winning mindset, Weber may become part of another two-headed Buckeye beast in the DFW.

Extra: Undrafted Free Agents

  • For the Texans, WR Johnnie Dixon will have a chance to crack the final roster and add an over-the-top wide receiver threat (1,171 yds. from scrimmage, 17 total TDs), and fellow Buckeye OL Malcolm Pridgeon will look to earn a spot in helping to protect Deshaun Watson.
  • For the Seahawks, DL Demetrius Knox will look to become part of the final 53-man roster and become an important piece in the Seattle defensive line.
  • For the Cardinals, LB Dante Booker will attempt to bring the same ability to lead the defense and bring down the ball carrier consistently.

Overall, the 2019 NFL Draft was yet another example of how the Buckeyes are the Silver Standard of NFL-producing colleges, only behind the Crimson Tide in NFL-ready talent drafted.
