Ohio State Football: 5 Buckeyes chosen, how many more will be?
Three Ohio State football players were chosen on Day 2 of the NFL Draft but they slid down farther than I expected they would.
Nick Bosa and Dwayne Haskins were first round picks and three more Ohio State football players were chosen on Day 2. Parris chosen was chosen in the second round at by the Indianapolis Colts with the 59th pick, Dre’Mont Jones (No. 71) and Parris Campbell (No. 76) were chosen in the third.
That leaves five more Buckeyes still on the board. Linemen Michael Jordan and Isaiah Prince, running Back Mike Weber, cornerback Kendall Sheffield and wide receiver Johnnie Dixon will be hoping to hear their names called today.
I was surprised no Ohio State player was chosen until late in the second round and that Campbell was chosen by the Indianapolis Colts. I thought if McLaurin was available he would be their choice since he is from Indiana. But the Colts got a dynamic playmaker so I’m sure quarterback Andrew Luck is happy.

Dre’Mont Jones was selected by the Denver Broncos and I think they got one of the steals of the draft. Depth on the defensive line is extremely important during the grind of a 16 game NFL season, and to add a versatile player like Jones should pay dividends.
He is a three technique tackle who can also be moved to the edge if necessary as the bumps and bruises mount up. He may not fill up the stat sheets his rookie season but has the potential to be a valuable player.
Terry McLaurin was chosen by the Washington Redskins so I’ll bet that took some of the sting out of Dwayne Haskins for slipping to the 15th pick. I can’t wait to see the Buckeye quarterback slinging the ball to his college teammate on Sundays.
I couldn’t believe how these three players slid down in the draft and I hope that doesn’t happen with the players still on the board. Even if they do slip I expect at least nine Ohio State players to be drafted, and I hope Johnnie Dixon will be chosen to make it ten.
