The most irritated player chosen in the first round of the NFL draft is Ohio State quarterback Dwayne Haskins and he will be playing with a chip on his shoulder.

“League done messed up”. Those were the words of now former Ohio State quarterback Dwayne Haskins after the Washington Redskins drafted him with the 15th pick in the 2019 NFL draft per ESPN.com.

Some might say this is an accurate statement, others might disagree with it. One thing is for sure though, Haskins has all the intangibles that a NFL quarterback needs, it’s just a matter of whether the situation is right for him and if he can put all of those skills together at the next level.

Being in the right situation is a huge factor into the success of a player. Tom Brady, was drafted into the perfect situation and system under Bill Belichick and for that reason he flourished more than he would have if he was drafted by say the Browns or the Buccaneers.

This doesn’t mean that players drafted into the wrong situation can’t possibly be great players, it just means that they probably won’t live up to their maximum potential. And as for Haskins, to quote the greatest basketball player that ever lived, Michael Jordan, “The ceiling is the roof.”

It was for that reason that a lot of Buckeye faithful were pleased to hear the news the New York Giants drafted Daniel Jones out of Duke with the 6th pick of draft. The Giants are somewhat of a dumpster fire right now after they basically traded away the bulk of their talent to the Cleveland Browns this off-season.

Sure, Ohio State fans were a little upset that Haskins was the third quarterback taken off the board when there shouldn’t be a question as to who is the best quarterback in this draft. The reason he slid down so far was because Kliff Kingsbury is in love with Kyler Murray and New York made the idiotic decision to draft Daniel Jones.

The Giants could have either taken the better quarterback in Haskins or bulked up on defense with the sixth pick and drafted Jones with the 17th pick.

Sometimes things fall in different ways because of the incompetency of certain franchises. That was definitely the case here.

None of this truly matters to Haskins though because with the Redskins he is able to stay close to home as he went to high school in Maryland. And he gets to beat up on the Giants twice a year, providing a lasting reminder of the grave mistake they made in this 2019 NFL Draft.
