Two Ohio State football players were chosen in the first round of the NFL Draft and a few more will have their names called on Day 2.

Last night defensive end Nick Bosa and quarterback Dwayne Haskins were chosen in the first round of the NFL Draft. Expect more Ohio State football players chosen on Day 2.

Let’s take a look at Buckeyes who may hear their names called tonight.

Dre’Mont Jones:  The defensive tackle is almost certain to be chosen in the second round. I speculated in a recent article San Francisco general manager John Lynch might consider pairing Jones with Nick Bosa.

It may be wishful thinking on my part but the 49ers do have the fourth pick in the second round. I would love to see these two Buckeyes creating havoc in opposing teams’ backfields again.

Parris Campbell:  He will be a second round pick and I doubt the playmaker will drop to the 49th pick, but as a Browns fan it wouldn’t break my heart if he returned to Northeast Ohio. I’m sure Baker Mayfield would like to have another offensive weapon too.

Terry McLaurin:  Like Jones and Campbell, McLaurin will be taken in the second round. He is from Indiana so if he were to drop to the 46th pick how could the Colts pass on him? Don’t you think quarterback Andrew Luck would be in the general managers ear if the wide receiver slipped that far?

Michael Jordan:  I don’t care where those who make up mock drafts have Jordan being chosen, I can’t believe the big versatile lineman will fall past the third round.

More from Ohio State Football

Mike Weber:  It’s always difficult to predict where a running back will be chosen unless he is considered to be one of the best in the class, but I don’t think Weber will slip to the fourth round for these reasons. He caught 21 passes last season while splitting reps and ran a 4.47 in the 40 at the NFL Combine.

General managers might think he could be effective on third down and spell a featured back on occasion. Those types of backs are valuable in today’s NFL so I think he could be a 2nd day pick.

Kendall Sheffield:  The cornerback may surprise some if he is chosen tonight because he didn’t have a stellar college career. If Sheffield is it’s because of two things general managers love, potential and speed.

They may excuse him for not performing well last season with a new cornerbacks coach and remember he was a five-star recruit when he enrolled at Alabama, and the No. 1 JUCO corner when he joined Urban Meyer’s 2017 recruiting class. They are also aware Sheffield set the indoor record in the 60 meters at Ohio State.

I can’t see Isaiah Prince or Johnnie Dixon being drafted tonight. Most mock drafts have Prince being chosen about the 5th round and Dixon as a late round pick.

Next. Best choice in first round was an obvious one. dark

However things play out tonight there will still be plenty of Buckeyes who will hear their names called in this year’s draft.
