With the 2019 NFL Draft beginning tonight, Ohio State will look to add to an impressive group of first-round draft picks. Who will join that group tonight?

With the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft beginning tonight, several former Ohio State football players will be hoping to hear their name called. If not today, there are ten former Buckeyes who are likely to be picked up by an NFL team this weekend.

With 13 first-round draft picks (10 since 2016) for Ohio State since 2010, many expect at least a couple of Buckeyes to be added to this impressive list of the 2010s.

The first and obvious choice is Nick Bosa, who is projected by many to go first overall. If he doesn’t go first, don’t expect him to drop past the third pick. Of all the Buckeyes in this draft, Bosa is likely the most secure in his draft stock, and he will join the family tradition and his brother Joey, who was drafted third-overall just three years ago, and his father John, who was also a first-round pick in 1987.

Although his draft stock has gone from a top six pick to a mid-first rounder, Dwayne Haskins is still a lock for the first round. Some project the talented gunslinger to be drafted by the New York Giants, but recent reports suggest that Daniel Jones is the favorite to be drafted by the Giants.

If not taken by the Giants, projections range from as high as somewhere else in the top five all the way down to the Redskins at 15. Whatever happens, the gunslinger Haskins will end up as a first-round pick who could be the next great NFL quarterback.

After Bosa and Haskins, the projections get murky for any other Buckeyes to be taken in the first round. Nonetheless, a few Buckeyes come to mind who could be picked up in the first 32 picks.

The first name that comes to mind is Parris Campbell, who is a talented wide receiver with incredible breakaway speed. Projected as a second-round pick, the end of the first round could be the landing spot for a team in need of a breakaway threat.

A team like the Los Angeles Rams would be a good fit to add to an already impressive offense with a player who already played an exceptional game in nearby Pasadena (11 catches for 71 yards and 1 TD in the Rose Bowl).

Other players who could be picked up on the first night include Dre’Mont Jones and Mike Weber, who are more likely to go in the second or third round could be a surprise pick at the end of the first round. Dre’Mont Jones’ knack for tackles for loss and Weber’s power running are both sought-after skill sets that could see a team pick them up tonight.

Whatever happens tonight, Ohio State will once again be well-represented during the draft, and even if only two players are taken in the first round, several Buckeyes will be picked up on Friday or Saturday.
