Ohio State defensive end Nick Bosa will be joining older brother Joey in the family business tomorrow. Their father started it many years ago.

Three years ago when Joey Bosa left Ohio State to pursue an NFL career I wrote he was just taking over the family business. See, his father John was a defensive end who was a first round pick in the 1987 draft and his Uncle Eric Kumerow who played for the Buckeyes was in 1988.

Now little brother Nick will be joining them as he is assured of being a top pick in tomorrow’s draft.

I took a little grief when I wrote the article in 2016 because some thought it was wrong for Joey to have that kind of pressure on him. If you have ever listened to Joey and Nick speak you can tell they love playing football so there isn’t any external pressure at all. The only pressure is what they put on themselves, to be the best at what they do.

The two Bosas are just like kids whose father owns a construction company. Boys who went to work with dad on weekends when they were young learning how to roof, frame and hang drywall. While some of their classmates hoped to be able to build houses someday, they knew they would.

Joey and Nick are just following in Dad’s footsteps like many young men do. And anybody who has a son knows he thinks he can do everything better than dad, and expects to prove it.

You could tell both of the Bosa brothers had that mindset the minute they arrived in Columbus. They simply had a different attitude than most recruits.

More from Ohio State Football

Joey immediately made the two deep at defensive end. When Adolphus Washington went down with an injury early in the 2013 season he became the starter and never looked back.

Nick was on a mission from the minute he stepped on campus. He had suffered a season ending injury his senior year in high school, but when he began workouts in the summer defensive line coach Larry Johnson had to hold him back to ensure he was able to handle the load. He was.

Like his older brother, Nick made an immediate impact and was named to Freshman All-American teams.

The two brothers came to Ohio State with the intention of performing at a high level and to hone their skills so they would become high draft picks. Mission accomplished.

Next. Best buy in 2016 NFL Draft Class was a Buckeye. dark

Congrats to the Little Bear for joining his brother in the family business.
