There are young receivers on the Ohio State football team who have potential to become stars, and possibly as early as next fall.

Even though Ohio State lost three outstanding receivers to graduation there are young players to fill the void. And don’t be surprised if any of them make a major impact next season.

Let’s begin with ones who put on a show during the spring game.

Coaches and players raved about the circus catches early enrollee Garrett Wilson made during spring practices and he didn’t disappoint fans who have been following his progress. He elevated for a ball and made a twisting catch in the end zone on a pass from Matthew Baldwin.

The No. 2 wide receiver in the 2019 recruiting class had four receptions for 44 yards on the day.

The No. 2 all-purpose back in the 2018 class also played well. Jaelen Gill caught 7 passes for 95 yards. Many have compared him to Parris Campbell and it’s easy to see why.

I have to admit I enjoyed seeing the lowest rated position player in the 2017 class perform as well as he did.

Elijah Gardiner only had two receptions but one was a beautiful 59 yard catch and run. I have been following this guy since Urban picked him up as an underrated recruit late in the 2017 cycle and it was fun to see him have his day in the sun. Don’t sleep on this player.

Two talented young receivers didn’t catch a pass in the Ohio State Spring game and I’m not sure if they even played. No problem, Chris Olave and Jaylen Harris will be impact players next fall.

Everybody knows how well Olave performed at the end of his true freshmen season and the future looks bright for that young man. And everything I heard about Harris during the spring was positive. I have a feeling this tall, athletic receiver will be a force in the red zone.

I’m looking forward to seeing these young wide receivers take the field in the fall. With coach Hartline coaching them up and seniors to lead them, I’m sure they will make an impact.
