Ohio State Football: Why tweets shouldn’t hurt Nick Bosa’s draft stock
It has been reported Ohio State DE Nick Bosa deleted tweets that may have been a cause for concern with the NFL draft on the horizon.
Apparently Nick Bosa tweeting things in the past he thought may not set well with a potential future employer. Could something that was said about a former NFL player and a political point of view actually make him slide in the draft?
It would be a shame if it would.
Here is what was reported by SI.com regarding two tweets Bosa deleted.
"Bosa didn’t shy away from controversial opinions on Twitter during his time with the Buckeyes. He called Colin Kaepernick a “clown” in 2016, and quote tweeted a picture of Donald Trump and Ronald Reagan with the caption, “Goats.”"
It was also reported in the article why he chose to delete them.
"Former Ohio State defensive end Nick Bosa scrubbed his Twitter prior to the NFL draft because he “might end up in San Francisco,” according to ESPN’s Kevin Van Valkenburg."
Would San Francisco fans not want Bosa in a 49er uniform because of his personal views? Would they put more importance in what Bosa tweeted than the fact he is the best player in this year’s draft class?
If the San Francisco front office decided to opt out of the No. 2 spot for more draft picks I’m sure they would find willing trading partners. I think other teams put more stock in Bosa’s 77 tackles (29 for a loss) and 17.5 sacks during the 29 games he played for Ohio State rather than tweets he posted off the field.
With the way the country is divided on most issues I fully understand there are players on my favorite college and pro teams who have opposite views than mine. If one was a defensive end I would still want him to sack an opposing quarterback who votes like I do.

As far as what young Buckeyes tweet, I can always choose not to follow them if I don’t agree with their points of view. However, if they perform at a high level on the field, are good teammates and represent the Ohio State University well I will follow their football careers.
For me, watching sports is an escape. I just want to be entertained for a little while so I don’t concern myself with what a player thinks about off the field .
After indulging myself with football on Saturdays and Sundays I figure I have plenty of time to worry about real life situations and politics until the next kickoff.
If those in the San Francisco 49er’s front office use their heads and choose Nick Bosa with the 2nd pick I think they will be glad they did. I have a feeling their fanbase won’t care as much about the defensive end’s personal views when he is creating havoc in an opposing teams’ backfield.
