Michael Thomas | 2012

Coming off a 6-7 2011 season, Buckeye fans were brimming with hope heading into the spring game with new head coaching hire Urban Meyer pacing the sidelines. Then true freshman wide receiver Michael Thomas would make sure that hope continued into the 2012 season as he lit up the opposing defense for 131 yards on 12 catches.

This was a welcome sign of talent at the wide receiver position too, as the leading pass catcher had just 14 catches for the Buckeyes in the prior season.

Joe Burrow | 2018

Joe Burrow, while now slinging it around at LSU, was a sort of spring game legend while wearing the Scarlet and Gray. This isn’t even his best performance in the game but it was still a very impressive way to try to put his foot in the door for the starting quarterback position.

Burrow threw for 238 yards and 2 touchdowns but couldn’t beat out Dwayne Haskins and went on to have a solid season quarterbacking for LSU.
